As citizens of the town of Milford and members of the Republican Party:
We believe that the power of government comes from the consent of the governed. Current leaders have been irresponsible with taxpayers’ money and ineffective in carrying out their duties for the common good of the citizens of New Hampshire. We hold these elected officials accountable morally, ethically, and fiscally for health concerns, public infrastructure in disrepair and rampant financial mismanagement. The people have a right to question decisions made on their behalf and to get answers in a reasonable and timely fashion.
Everyone wants the best education possible for future generations. We support a variety of educational programs that empower parents to choose the best to way to prepare their children to become successful, responsible contributors to our community. The children are always more important than the system.
Uncontrolled and unwise spending of tax dollars is morally and fiscally irresponsible. We expect that tax dollars will be spent for the common good, putting priority on education, on fighting crime, and on infrastructure maintenance and improvements, not for individual projects favored by politically savvy special interests. Potholes and crumbling bridges should be fixed with current tax collections; deferring maintenance to periodic bond issues is irresponsible fiscal policy. Audits should be conducted to make sure that taxpayer money has been spent where it can best be used.
All of our elected officials should cooperate to ensure that all New Hampshire residents are secure in their homes and safe in their schools, neighborhoods and businesses. It is a fundamental, constitutional right of individuals to own and be secure in their property. Eminent domain is appropriate only for public facilities, and not for private development.
Leaders are responsible for upholding the rule of law as stated in the United States and New Hampshire Constitutions.
